Project Unsophisticated: The Story of My Unsophisticated Blackness

Let me be the first to say this book right here!  I probably should just drop the mic and walk away but because I can't leave you readers or potential readers in suspense, I'll continue on with my review.

Ms. Alana McAllister, you did it girl.  I am pretty sure you didn't intend to have a a real life story like yours but hey it definitely makes for an awesome...no fantastic...no phenomenal read my sister.  Truly I thought I had stories to tell.  Mine are nothing in comparison.  Those of you who choose to purchase "Project Unsophisticated" will not be disappointed in the least.  You can write that down.  You see, I put the book away only because I wasn't getting anything else done.  I was like, "Ms. McAllister, I do have a child to feed!"  I couldn't put the book away.

So, finally I'm a little more than half way through, I say to myself, "why not write a review? why not start writing reviews again...why not?"  I love to read almost anything.  The next best thing to reading is writing about my reading experience.  Therefore, when I run across a read like "Project Unsophisticated" it's so easy.  My fingers type a mile a minute.  I'm typing in and on sunshine, rainbows, clouds, etc.  You get where I'm coming from right?

Alana, the author, not only cracks the door to her life, she says ya'll come on in and take a seat.  And, while you're here, grab a beer or some tea baby cause you gonna need it. All I can think while reading her life's story, no listening to her tell her story because the writing is that good, all I can think is girl how in the world did you stay sane through all of what you've gone through.  Oh prior to that, I threw all judgement out the window at the beginning of the book too.  Here is why I did that.  Alana gave somewhat of a disclaimer when she confessed to have been a bit of a "hard headed" child.  Well, many of us were Alana.

Again, through all the turmoil, grief, and detriment Alana McAllister is still here.  She lives to tell us all that no matter how we got here, it's how we finish that matters.  So, drum roll please.............

I give this book a whopping -
